BRISBANE PRIDE FESTIVAL INC STATEMENT on CORONAVIRUS (COVID -19)

Brisbane Pride Festival Inc is an organisation that provides events for the LGBTIQ+ Sistergirl and Brotherboy communities of Queensland.

We encourage all members of our communities to continue to keep themselves updated and aware of the most recent up to date information regarding COVID-19 through accessing Federal and State Health updates at www.health.gov.au and www.health.qld.gov.au/coronavirus

Brisbane Pride Festival Committee have discussed and considered all future events and our position to collectively slow the outbreak of COVID-19 in all communities by taking additional steps to reduce community transmission. We encourage community awareness and monitoring of your health and of the health of others around you.

The most recent directives in Australia include:

  • A ban on all non-essential mass gatherings
  • The self-isolation of all international arrivals for 14 days after arriving in Australia
  • All cruise ships are banned from docking in Australian ports for at least 30 days

With careful consideration of the health and wellbeing of the community by the Brisbane Pride Festival Committee, we communicate to all members, communities, stake holders and partners that the following have been postponed until further notice:

  • 2020 Queens Ball
  • Brisbane Pride Annual General Meeting

This decision will allow the Brisbane Pride Festival Committee to reconsider and reassess future dates that complies with advice and direction from State and Federal Health in relation to the gatherings of mass crowds.

Brisbane Pride Committee will continue to monitor and reassess up to date advice and direction in relation to COVID-19. This will impact our ability to accurately plan at this stage how-ever, the Brisbane Pride Committee will remain engaged to inform members of future plans for the 2020 Queens Ball.
