Meet QLD’s Rural Trans Activist of the Year

Emily Wells first identified that she was female from the age of 7.

In her journey since then, she faced years of discrimination and being ostracised from the wider community.

Fast forward to 2020 and she has just received the inaugural Rural Trans Activist of the Year award at Queensland’s Transgender Awards.

She spoke to weekends presenter Kate O’Toole live at the Brisbane Pride Fair Day at New Farm Park.

Brisbane Artist & Art therapist Mikarla Teague and Brisbane Pride Festival Inc. have partnered to bring the LGBTIQ+ people and allies together through music and art to celebrate 30 years of Brisbane. Join in the creative expression, fun and history of painting a life size banner that brings Pride Resilience and Love to the forefront of our fight for equality and recognition in the 30 years of Brisbane Pride. The life size banner will then be a feature at the 2020 Brisbane Pride Fair Day.

Brisbane Pride Queen’s Ball 2020 Virtual Awards

2020 marks the 59th year of the Queen’s Ball Awards, the longest running LGBTQI+ event in the WORLD. To keep the traditional alive Brisbane Pride Festival has decided to present a virtual edition of the awards online while we wait for restrictions to lift on large scale events.
